La Leona Waterfall Adventure hike

This tour is located in Curubandé, Guanacaste near Rincon de la Vieja Volcano. We will walk in the forest next to the Blanco River that comes from the volcano, go around incredible rock formations, cross streams of water, go up small ladders until at the very end we will pull ourselves with a rope inside the water to get into a big cave to see La Leona Waterfall.

- A 4-wheel drive vehicle is not required to reach our office safely.
- Free parking is available on-site.
- The parking lot is monitored during all operating hours, so you can securely leave your belongings and luggage in your car if needed.
- Upon arrival, proceed to reception to check in.
- You will start by filling out a waiver.
- You can also request a locker to store your belongings during the tour.
- Receive a briefing on the hike, including what to bring.
- After check-in, you will be introduced to your tour guide.
- Your guide will provide a dry bag and a life jacket (life jackets are mandatory for all tour participants).
- You will have access to our bathrooms, changing rooms, and showers
- Once your group is prepared, you will be transported in a company vehicle to the start of the trail.
- This hike takes about 2.5-3 hours in total.
- For the group tour you can have up to 20 people in your group.
- You will all hike together to the waterfall with the assistance of your guide, you will then have time to swim in the waterfall and take photos. Lastly, you will hike back to the start of the trail.
- Once you are done with the hike you will be dropped back off at the office. There you can change and shower.

Las Pailas Trails – Volcanic Activity Hike
The 2 miles (3.2 km) Las Pailas trail cuts through tropical dry and rain forests with stops at various secondary volcanic activities.
The hike starts right after the entrance office where the trail starts at an open area with few trees. This trail consists of volcanic activity while you learn the legend of the volcano, different species of plants, trees and volcanic activity such as:
- Volcanic Bubbling Mud
- Inactive volcanic lakes
- Small craters
- Volcanic Fumes
Around this trail surrounded by forest and dense vegetation, you might have the opportunity to spot wildlife during the hike. Keep in mind that wildlife is unpredictable and we can never guarantee to see wildlife.
