Self-Drive Tours
La Leona Waterfall Costa Rica offers 2 different types of tour options. The first option is a self-drive tour. For a self-drive tour this means that you have your own vehicle, and you will drive yourself to our office. For this option a 4-wheel drive vehicle is NOT necessary to arrive at our office safely. We are located in the town of Curubande about 20 minutes outside of Liberia City.
Tours with Transportation Included
If you do not have your own vehicle La Leona Waterfall Costa Rica, has you covered with a tour with transportation included. For this option we will pick you up at your hotel, Airbnb, the airport, etc. and then drive you in our fully insured and air-conditioned vehicle to our office. You can leave any belongings in the vehicle for the duration of the tour and then you will be dropped back off after the tour.

Cancelation Policy
Self-Drive
Tours
You must cancel 24hrs before the start of the tour to get a full refund. Bookings made less than 24 hours before your tour are final. You can only request to reschedule the tour.
Tours with transportation included
You must cancel 48hrs before the pickup time in order to get a full refund. Less than 48hrs before the tour we cannot issue refunds and the deposit will be non-refundable.
Weather Cancelation
Policy
If we have to cancel any tour or we are unable to finish the tour because of the weather conditions, we will issue a partial or full refund, depending on how many activities you were able to complete.

A reservation is required for all tours.
No, you do not need to know how to swim for this hike. Since life jackets are required, swimming skills are not necessary. During the swimming sections there are ropes positioned so you can just pull yourself across and any areas without a rope you tour guide has a rope you can hold on to and they will pull you across that area.

Yes, our parking lot is monitored during all operating hours, so it is safe to leave your belongings in your vehicle for the duration of the tour.

La Leona Waterfall is considered a moderate level hike. We do not recommend this hike for anyone with knee, ankle or mobility issues.

La Leona Waterfall is arguably the most beautiful waterfall in Costa Rica. This waterfall is fully enclosed in cave, pristine turquoise pools, and includes an adventure hike to reach the waterfall. This is a waterfall you don’t want to miss out on while in Costa Rica.
The total driving time from Liberia to La Leona Waterfall is approximately 20 minutes, covering a distance of about 18 kilometers.
As you reach Liberia, join Route 1 heading north and drive for approximately 7.3 kilometers. Look for the right turn onto the road leading to Curubandé (Rincon de la Vieja National Park).
